Expressions of interest are now open to associations wishing to host the Queensland Cup and Samsung Primary Schools Cup in 2017.
The Queensland Cup carnival will be a major part of the restructured state events line-up for 2017 and encompass under 16, under 18, open and men’s divisions. Nominations will be open to every association in Queensland.
The Samsung Primary Schools Cup will retain its existing structure and be open for nomination to Queensland primary schools in a combined competition featuring boys, girls and mixed teams.
Due to a major expansion in 2017, the State Age Championship will not be open to hosting expressions of interest from all associations.
Instead, Netball Queensland will approach targeted associations capable of hosting an event of this size to express their interest.
Netball Queensland Competitions Coordinator Adam De’Ath said the 2017 state events line-up would provide the greatest opportunity yet for association players across the state to develop their games and enjoy the sport.
“The State Age Championship is the flagship junior association event of the year and will be bigger than ever in 2017 with the addition of teams who would have traditionally competed in Challenge Carnival,” Mr De’Ath said.
“The new Queensland Cup carnival will focus solely on age groups from under 16s and older, helping these players further develop their games and better define their identities as senior netballers.
“We look forward to working with all of our valued associations around the state to deliver a bumper year of netball and build on our successes this year.”
