After 18 rounds with fifty-three teams competing, Mount Franklin Challenge heads into sudden-death Preliminary Finals to battle it out for a spot in the Grand Final.

All games will be played Friday night, September 12, at the Hibiscus Sports Complex, Klumpp Road, Mt Gravatt across 16 years, 19 years and open age groups with teams from all over Southeast Queensland competing.

Six teams have cemented their spots including South Coast (16’s division 1), Brisbane (16’s division 2), Downey Park (19’s division 1), Toowoomba (19’s division 2), Macgregor (open division 1) and Shailer Park (open division 2) to see who will be crowned challenge champions.

The Mount Franklin Challenge competition provides a representative platform for Netball Queensland registered Associations within southeast Queensland to develop players, coaches and umpires.

The competition also provides a pathway from Association level Netball through to the Mission Queensland State Netball League.

The Ipswich Flyers, who have tasted success in three of their last five grand final outings, took the long road after going down to Macgregor in a close semi-final 38-35 and now have to face Logan City for the chance to redeem themselves in the big match next week.

The Flyers have only lost three games all season, having not dropped a match to Logan and co-captain Brooke Dixon said her team is going into the sudden-death match with this in mind.

“Logan will be tough, they are a very physical team and we will need to play very well and stay disciplined to beat them.

“I think we need to just settle into the combos, play our game and the rest will fall into place.

“We know what we need to do and there isn’t much time left to go out and do it, so now’s the time to step up I guess.”
