The 2015 South East Queensland Challenge is finally over, with the grand finals in each division being held tonight, Friday 11 September.
For some teams there was cause for celebration, and others disappointment, but each team fought hard in a great night of netball.
In the Under 16’s Division One, Shailer Park started off strong, but it was Western Districts that took out the title, winning 47 to 37. The Goal Shooter from Western Districts, Bella Rynne, was awarded Player of the Match.
The Under 16’s Division Two match between Southport Carrara and Highfields was neck and neck for almost the full sixty minutes, but it was Highfields who won by only one goal, 56 to 55. The Player of the Match went to the Goal Attack from Highfields, Mia Stower.
Downey Park beat out Metro, winning 53 to 37, in the Under 19’s Division One grand final. Downey Park’s Goal Keeper, Emily Gilbert, received Player of the Match.
In one of the closest games of the night, Downey Park only just beat out Ipswich by two goals in the Open Women’s Division One, winning 59 to 57. Lauren Todd, the Goal Shooter from Downey Park, was award Player of the Match.
The Open Women’s Division Two game was close throughout, with Logan pulling out a 9 goal lead to win the match, 43 to 34. Rechelle Kealley from Logan, was awarded Player of the Match.
Both times they played in the rounds, Western Districts Red and Pine Rivers drew, but it was Pine Rivers who took out the Open Men’s grand final, winning 60 to 56. The Goal Keeper from Pine Rivers, Col Gray, received Player of the Match.
