Netball Queensland’s Elite Development Squad (EDS) has finished the Queensland Champions Cup (QCC) season with a convincing win over the Logan Wildcats at the Logan Metro Indoor Sports Centre on Wednesday, 19 June.
The EDS was too fast for the bottom placed Wildcats, winning 50:38.
The EDS stretched a three-goal half time lead out to a 12-point victory with a fast and confident final quarter to end their season.
EDS stand-in coach Danielle Edwards was happy to be part of the girls’ season ending victory, despite some inconsistency.
“We had some amazing patches and other patches where we fell apart, but it was great that we could bring it home in the last quarter,” said Edwards.
Edwards was delighted with the effort of the defensive line despite their attack lacking some organisation.
“Defensively we took a lot of ball, but some young heads threw it away in attack at times,” she said.
“I am really proud of the girls. They wanted to win this game and I was proud to coach them.”
The EDS end the season with four wins and one draw. The Wildcats finish the season with the wooden spoon, recording only one win.
The final round of the QCC will see the undefeated Tigers play the Steelcats in Townsville, while the battle of the round will be between the second-placed Cougars and the fourth-placed Jaguars. The Lynx and the Lions play the final round game before the final series.
