Fusion finals bound

The Queensland Fusion will line-up in their second consecutive finals appearance facing off against the Victorian Fury in the semi-final in Melbourne this Saturday in a replay of last year’s Australian Netball League Grand Final.

Fury defeated Fusion by nine goals in the opening game of the round, meaning the Queensland side needed to defeat Canberra Darters in its final match on the weekend to reclaim fourth spot from the Netball NSW Waratahs.

Darters got away to a strong start to lead by four goals at quarter-time but, with finals hopes on the line, Fusion hit back in the second term.

The Queenslanders powered to a six-goal lead at the main break and continued to build on that advantage in the second half claiming victory 58-42 over the Darters.

In the absence of the injured Beryl Friday, young shooter Abigail Latu-Meafou stepped up to finish with 35 goals from 40 shots.

QLD Fusion (58) defeated Canberra Darters (42)
