Commonwealth games gold, national glory, grand finals galore! It has been a remarkable year for Queensland Netball and netballers.
In 2015 we want to shoot higher.
Building on the success of the 19U State team winning the National Championships, Netball Queensland is currently calling for nominations from eligible athletes and selectors interested in undertaking the selection process for the 2015 Queensland Underage State teams.
Netball Queensland will be competing in the 17U, 19U and 21U National Netball Championships and want to uncover more talented players like home-grown Firebirds recruit Beryl Friday along with 19U MVP and Fusion star Cara Koenen.
Netball Queensland is also looking for the best netball brains in Queensland to forecast into the future.
Six selectors are needed to work with Netball Queensland and the respective head coaches in the identification and selection of our next crop of Queensland athletes.
These selection roles are vital in ensuring that Queensland is not only selecting the best current athletes for national success but also identifying the next batch of up and coming talent within the Queensland pathways.
The 17U and 19U Championships will be held in Sydney from 14-19 April and the 21U Championship will be held in Queensland from 10-15 March.
The National Netball Championships allows for the identification of individual athletes to national programs and beyond.
Netball Queensland has re-appointed Head Coaches Amanda Vanderwal – 17U, Christine Voge – 19U and Jenny Brazel – 21U.
Those interested in nominating as an athlete or applying for a role as a selector can find more information at the following linkhttp://qld.netball.com.au/state-teams/
In a change from previous years, the 2015 initial selections will be held over a full weekend, on September 27 and 28 at Boondall Entertainment Centre, a change which has been established to ensure better access to opportunities for prospective athletes and to expand on the education and development components of the program.
From that initial selection weekend, a maximum of 36 athletes per age group will be selected for the Phase 2 Program and the selection process will provide further education, development and selection components.
Athletes wishing to be considered for selection must complete the online nomination process and pay the trialing fee prior to September 21. Only athletes that nominate can be considered for selection.
Applications for selectors close 5:00pm Wednesday September 10.
