Have you thrown a netball to Verity Simmons, shot with Gretel Tippett, defended Beryl Friday or caught a centre pass from Kim Ravaillion?
Well you only have a few more chances left to attend one of the free Firebirds Community Development Clinics being held across the state.
Over 800 young netballers aged 11-15 years have already hit the court with their favourite Firebirds players and our newest recruit Beryl Friday is looking forward to heading back to her home town of Ingham for one of the last clinics.
“I love getting out to the regions, especially the smaller towns like Ingham and helping promote netball, meeting our fans and hopefully uncover and encourage the development of some future Firebirds,” Friday said.
“The clinics are a great way to encourage young girls to be involved in sport and to become physically active, as this is a positive way to promote women in sport,” she said.
Firebirds players will be spreading their wings and flying all over the state for the remaining four clinics to help young potential Firebirds in developing their skills, as part of the Queensland Government supported Firebirds Community Development Program.
Clinics will be held in the far north in Port Douglas, Ingham, Bowen before a final clinic at the home of Western Districts Netball Association, Sunday February 22 and every Firebirds and netball fan in South East Queensland is invited to register and attend.
There will be four Firebirds players, Kim Ravillion, Gretel Tippett, Verity Simmons and Caitlyn Nevins on hand to give out netball tips and Simmons said she couldn’t wait to meet some new Firebirds fans.
“We want the final Firebirds clinic to go out with a bang and see as many little netty players there as possible,” Simmons said.
As an added bonus, if you register and attend the final Firebirds clinic on Sunday February 22, you will have the opportunity to meet and have a signing session with all 12 Firebirds players.
