The City Country 18U Series replaces the former City Country series which was an open age event. The purpose of this is to provide another stepping stone for talented young players from both city and country areas to compete in a high quality competition. The event will be played in conjunction with the 16U State Titles, providing a clear goal for the 16U players to aspire to and also to ensure the matches are well supported.
Teams will be selected by the NQ Selection Panels through knowledge of players from their performances over the previous two years, as well as performances in the Queensland State Netball League, Secondary Schoolgirls Championships, QISSN and Queensland Premier League games. Players who have represented Queensland (17U or 19U) in the same year will not be considered for selection in these two teams. Players from the 16U State Titles team will also not be eligible to play in these games. This will allow selectors to view players with an eye on the Queensland 19U squad for the following year. Teams are able to have two players aged over 18 and under 21 should the selectors feel there are players that need an opportunity to be exposed at this level.
For the purpose of defining City and Country, the following guidelines will apply.
The City Team will be drawn from the following QSNL teams or their related Associations
The Country Team will be drawn from the following QSNL teams or their related Associations
The games will be played in conjunction with the State 16U Titles in Toowoomba on the evenings of Oct 3, 4 & 5, 2018.
Players will be required to pay a small levy to contribute to the Associated costs, which will be equalised across both teams
Team staff will be appointed by Netball Queensland as part of the coach development program
