Queensland’s best netball associations will collide when the inaugural Queensland Premier League (QPL) finals kick off at Carrara Indoor Stadium this Saturday and Sunday (9-10 September 2017).
The round-robin competition pits the winners of the state’s four conferences – South West Queensland (SWQ), South East Queensland (SEQ), Central Queensland (CQ) and Far North Queensland (FNQ) – plus the SEQ runners-up across 16/U, 18/U, open and men’s divisions.
Netball Queensland General Manager – High Performance Richard McInnes said he expected a hard fought weekend of netball as associations competed for ultimate bragging rights.
“Our associations are the lifeblood of Queensland netball and we can’t wait to see them clash for the chance to be named state champions,” McInnes said.
“QPL has been has been embraced from the tropics to the Tweed and given our members the chance to test their skills, embrace new rivalries and establish connections within their local netball communities and beyond.
“We’re excited to see the season out with a bang this weekend and crown the historic first winners of the competition.”
With under age, open and men’s divisions taking centre stage, McInnes said the competition is fast establishing itself as a key pillar of Netball Queensland’s development pathway.
“QPL provides an ideal platform for emerging stars to learn their craft from wily veterans,” he said.
“It also provides the pre-eminent platform for men to compete at a high level and display their passion for the game.
“Crowds will love the pace and skill on show. We look forward to seeing a kaleidoscope of association colours in the stands this weekend supporting their teams.”
Queensland Premier League finals kick off from 8am to 5pm on Saturday 9 September and 8am to 1pm on Sunday 10 September at Carrara Indoor Stadium.
