The purpose of the Nissan 16U State Titles is to provide an opportunity for the best players, coaches and umpires from across Queensland (QLD) to compete against each other in a high quality competition.  It also provides players with a shared platform to compete for selection in the QLD 17U Squad for the following year as well as creating the transition point from Association based netball (State Age, QPL) into a broader regional representative netball to drive the competitiveness and depth of talent in the QSNL competitions.

Following on from the successful inaugural State Titles held last month in Toowoomba, Netball Queensland is now looking to confirm the coaching and managing appointments of all 16U Teams.  In a new initiative for 2019, there will also be opportunities for seven 18U teams to compete under their respective Hart Sapphire Series Licences, replacing the City v Country event held in 2018.

While there have been a number of 16U Management Team positions re-appointed for 2019, there are vacancies across the Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Team Manager roles that still need to be filled.  In addition, vacancies exist for 7 Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Team Managers for the 18U teams for Jets Netball, Northern Rays, Moreton Bay Thunder, Brisbane North Cougars, Carina Leagues Club Tigers, Bond University Bull Sharks and QUT Wildcats.

Please see attached the position descriptions, application forms and flyer for all roles and note the closing date for all applications is 5pm Friday 30 November.  If you can please circulate this information asap to any interested coaches and managers, and please direct any queries and/or send the application form, 1 page CV and covering letter/email to Tracey Fear, Performance Pathways Manager, tracey.fear@netballq.org.au

Netball Queensland will appoint a panel six (n6) Pathway Selectors, at least one of whom will attend each of the Emerging Talent Clinics around Queensland. Working in collaboration with local talent scouts and coaches the selector will silently identify players during the Phase 1 ETP clinics. No selections or announcement are made from the phase 1 clinics. The talent scouting network will then continue to monitor players during the season across multiple competitions including Queensland State Netball League, Queensland Premier League, Secondary Schoolgirls State Championships, QISSSN and State Age 15U Age group.  At the completion of the Phase 2 Emerging Talent Clinics and also utilising scouting information gathered across the year and from previous years. Each Regional selection panel, led by a Netball Queensland Pathway Selector will select a squad of 12 players and four (4) Training Partners to participate in the Nissan 16U State Titles.

Concussion Management Program

Netball Queensland have partnered with the Headsmart Sports Concussion Program to help manage concussion and the return to play process for Netballers of all ages across Queensland.  For a very small annual fee of $20, Netballers can undergo an online baseline assessment which will then provide valuable individualised feedback if they do suffer a head knock during the season.  This information will assist medical practitioners to accurately assess the player’s concussion status and capacity to return to play safely.  All of Netball Queensland’s elite programs, including the Lorna Jane Queensland Firebirds are using this program and we would encourage all players to do the same.  For more information please review the information paper here. NQ and Headsmart Sports Concussion Program
