AFTER the sell-out success of December’s Mission Queensland Firebirds camp, another 120 excited young netballers will arrive on the Gold Coast this Friday for three days of fun and games with their favourite Firebirds players.
Eleven of the twelve Mission Queensland Firebirds, as well as coaching staff including senior coach Roselee Jencke, will be sharing their knowledge and experience with teenagers from around the state at Tallebudgera Active Recreation Centre.
Participants can expect a fun and challenging event where they will gain valuable knowledge to assist their development as netballers.
The camp will include specialist court sessions run by qualified coaches, match play, off-court education, a mock press conference, nutrition workshops, conditioning and a Mission Queensland Firebirds FUN Olympics.
Netball Queensland Participation Coordinator Ann-Marie Geary said the camp in December was a resounding success.
“Participants were put through their paces by elite level coaches, an experience most would have never had access to before,” she said.
“They were then able to put what they had learnt in the coaching sessions into practice with a match play tournament on the Saturday.”
Geary said part of the appeal of the Mission Queensland Firebirds camps is the opportunity to interact with ANZ Championship stars.
“Designing a wedding dress for Laura Geitz and shooting competitions against Nat Medhurst seemed to be the highlights of the fun activities in December and will be on again this weekend,” she said.
“The Mission Queensland Firebirds gain as much out of the interaction as the young girls and love spending the quality time with their fans.”
The 120 participants are making the journey from locations right across the state including Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Townsville, Gladstone, Atherton, Cannonvale, Hervey Bay and Mareeba.
The Mission Queensland Firebirds Camp will be held at Tallebudgera Active Recreation Centre, 1525 Gold Coast Highway, North Palm Beach runs from Friday, January 18 to Sunday, January 20.
