Coach Development Working Group

The development of a Netball Queensland (NQ) Coach Development Strategic Plan is essential in the provision of a long term view and strategy aimed at growing the quality and quantity of coaches and coaching in our state.

A new strategic planning cycle, NQ staffing changes and the desire to have a strategic approach to coach development from Community through to High Performance (HP) has initiated the formation of this group.

Expressions of interest for membership onto the working party will be sought from personnel with a range of coaching expertise and experience to provide a wide viewpoint for input.


The role of the Coach Development Working Group is to provide advice, information and best practice insight on coach development to assist with the establishment of a leading strategy.

The Working Group will not be required to perform any operational functions or assume any management responsibilities.

They will be involved for approximately six months as the anticipated date for delivery of the Strategic Plan is July – August 2016.

Ongoing input from the Working Group may be sought after this time.


NQ is calling for expressions of interest and will make the appointments to the Working Group.

The Working Group will include up to 10 members:

  • Netball Queensland General Manager – Community and Sport Development (Chair)
  • Netball Queensland General Manager – High Performance
  • Manager of Community and Engagement / Manager of Participation
  • 1 – 2 Netball Queensland High Performance Coaches
  • 1 – 2 Community Coaches
  • 1 player (with coaching experience and confidence to discuss ideas)
  • Secretary – High Performance intern

Expressions of interest are required to include contact details and a brief overview of coaching experience and qualifications and emailed to the General Manager:  by Friday 19 February.

Additional members with relevant skill sets or expertise will be sourced as required and may be included on a permanent basis or through attendance at designated meetings at the decision of the group Chair.
