Netball Queensland’s first ambassador, award winning author and columnist Rebecca Sparrow will be the special guest speaker at the end of season High Tea awards celebration on Saturday October 18.
The mother of three and former schoolgirl netball player has been a champion for the 250, 000 netball players, supporters, volunteers and officials of netball in Queensland over the past season and said she’s delighted to be involved in recognising the success of the sport across the state.
“Once a goal-keeper, always a goal-keeper and I’ve had the most amazing year so far being an Ambassador for Netball Queensland – helping to spread my love of netball to girls and their mums everywhere I go,” Ms Sparrow said.
“I also went to my first Queensland Firebirds game this season, which was fantastic but I am most passionate about the fact that netball is a sport that everyone can play, even self-confessed sports nerds like me” she said.
‘I’m looking forward to meeting some of the award nominees, especially the volunteers and presenting a few awards as well as speaking briefly.”
Rebecca Sparrow is the author of numerous highly lauded books including the Girl Most Likely, Find Your Tribe (and 9 other things I wish I’d known in high school) and Find Your Feet (the 8 things I wish I’d known before I left high school) as well as a popular columnist for online magazine Mamamia.
Tickets for the Netball Queensland Champagne High Tea Awards will ONLY be available until midnight tonight. Thursday October 9, 2014.
