We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from members of the community to join the new Netball Queensland History and Tradition sub-committee.
This committee will support the strategic objectives of Netball Queensland and advise the Board and Leadership Team on matters of cultural heritage with view to enhancing history and tradition within Netball Queensland and the broader netball community.
Key tasks for this committee include
- Providing advice, guidance and support to the Board and Management on enhancing history and tradition with Netball Queensland and the broader netball community including policies, initiatives, programs, strategies and funding.
- Develop and recommend to the Board a strategy and associated policies that
- Ensure those who have contributed to the tradition and history of the game are appropriately recognised and honoured
- Ensuring all stakeholders are able to maintain a strong link to the sport’s past
- Information about individuals who have contributed to the history and tradition of the sport is preserved
- Netball Queensland Life Members are appropriately recognised.
- Act as advocates within the Netball community to raise awareness of the importance of preserving history and tradition.
When considering the appointment of members to the History and Tradition Sub-Committee, the Board is seeking to create a skills-based and balanced committee. Criteria, experience and desired skills include:
- Demonstrable interest in cultural heritage
- Representation for geographic locations across Queensland is preferable
- Cultural, ethnic, gender and age diversity
- A sound knowledge of the business of sport and/or the NFP sector
- Experience in governance and/or committee operations is preferable.
This sub-committee is being established by the Board of Netball Queensland in accordance with the clause 18.1 of the Constitution. A copy of the History and Tradition Sub-Committee Terms of Reference can be found here.
