Townsville Talent Kim Jenner Named as Diamonds Training Partner

Townsville product Kim Jenner will head into camp with the Samsung Australian Diamonds next week after being named as a training partner following an impressive second half of the Suncorp Super Netball Season.

Jenner said the call up was a dream come true, “Lisa called me up and it’s always been a dream of mine to be able to play for the diamonds so to get that opportunity to go into that environment and learn from all the girls and experience what that environment is like is really awesome”.

Born and raised in Townsville, Jenner has progressed through the Netball Queensland pathway from Queensland underage teams through to the Queensland Fusion, which is the direct feeder team for the Lorna Jane Queensland Firebirds.

Nine of the selected athletes featured during Australia’s Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games campaign and will be the nucleus of a high quality group, which will welcome three new faces.

In preparation for next year’s Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England, the team will be focused on delivering success in the International Test Series against traditional rivals New Zealand, England and South Africa.

The Diamonds will start their Quad Series campaign on 15 September against the South African Spar Proteas in Auckland before coming-up against the England Roses in Newcastle on 19 September, for the first time since the Commonwealth Games gold medal match.

The Diamonds last game in Australia will take place in Townsville, hosting an international netball game for the first time against the New Zealand Silver Ferns on 10 October.

Tickets for the International Test Series are still available via https://netball.com.au/tickets.
