Coaching Workshops

Netball Queensland recognises that the accreditation system should only be a small facet of our coach development plan. We know there is a strong need in our community for education and development for Queensland coaches, whether they are coaching for the very first time or are looking for fresh perspectives after years of coaching.  

To cater for coaches no matter where they are in their coaching journey, our non-accreditation workshops are delivered by a variety of our staff in both the Participation team and the Pathways team. 

Netball Queensland can facilitate workshops that cover a variety of content. The table below gives a brief overview of a selection of the available workshops.

Designed to give new coaches the skills, resources, support, and confidence to coach a netball team for the very first time. 

2 hours of theory  

Coaching Woolworths NetSetGO 
  • Woolworths NetSetGO coaches and convenors  
  • Experienced Woolworths NetSetGO coaches looking for fresh ideas 

Designed to set Woolworths NetSetGO coaches up for success by outlining the purpose of Woolworths NetSetGO, discussing the Woolworths NetSetGO content outlined by Netball Australia, and providing resources and ideas to engage participants.  

1.5 hours of theory 

Planning a training session 
  • Beginner coaches struggling to plan training sessions 
  • Intermediate coaches looking to consolidate knowledge  

Designed to take coaches through the 7-step skill progression framework outlined by Netball Australia. With practical examples and session planning activities, coaches should leave with a better understanding of designing effective training sessions, as well as with a few training sessions ready to go.  

2 hours of theory

  • Intermediate coaches looking to consolidate knowledge  

Designed to take coaches through the process of planning their season step by step. Coaches leave with the confidence to plan their own season due to the practical skills, discussion points, and resources provided.

Shooting Skills – Coaches Workshop
  • Beginner coaches unsure how to coach specialist shooting skills
  • Intermediate coaches looking to consolidate knowledge
 Using Netball Australia’s Skill Development Framework for players 11-13 years, this workshop is designed to give coaches the knowledge and practical experience to coach specialist shooting skills.   1.5 hours, unique blend of theory/practical sessions to suit your needs
Attacking Skills – Coaches Workshop
  • Beginner coaches unsure how to coach specialist attacking skills
  • Intermediate coaches looking to consolidate knowledge
 Using Netball Australia’s Skill Development Framework for players 11-13 years, this workshop is designed to give coaches the knowledge and practical experience to coach specialist attacking skills.   1.5 hours, unique blend of theory/practical sessions to suit your needs
Defending Skills – Coaches Workshop
