Queensland Netball Hall of Fame

BACKGROUND

Induction into the Queensland Netball Hall of Fame represents one of the highest levels of recognition that an individual can achieve within high performance netball. It celebrates the outstanding achievement of Queensland’s greatest netballers and high performance staff and administrators.

The Queensland Netball Hall of Fame fraternity is an illustrious group of the sport’s most respected and celebrated Queensland champions. They are the best of the best, who through their achievements, have made a significant contribution to the game, and without exception are wonderful role models for the netball community throughout Queensland.

Queensland Netball Hall of Fame membership is divided into two (2) categories:

Athlete Members
Induction as an Athlete Member of the Queensland Netball Hall of Fame is limited exclusively to the top echelon of Queensland netballers who have achieved excellence at the highest level of the sport.

General Members
Induction as a General Member to the Queensland Netball Hall of Fame is awarded in recognition of excellence and outstanding achievement in a role supportive of high performance netball participants.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Nominees must:

- Have represented Queensland at Open level (i.e. Suncorp Super Netball or equivalent).
- Be well respected by their peers.
- Shall not be considered until four (4) years have lapsed following retirement from Queensland Open level netball.
- The degree of difficulty for a Nominee to have attained Queensland Open selection and ongoing representation is to be considered.
- In addition to a Nominee’s individual sporting achievements, that person’s integrity, sportsmanship, and character are to be considered.

Current employees of Netball Queensland are not eligible.

The primary requirement for selection as a General Member is exceptional achievement from personal effort or initiative, in a field of endeavour that contributes to the high performance of athletes.

Nominees are required to have made a major contribution to high performance netball at Queensland level in:

- Netball administration
- Netball coaching
- Netball officials
- Netball operations
- Sports medicine/science/technology
- Sports media/history
- And Nominees must be considered:

- An initiator;
- An innovator whose work has been adopted widely;
- A person who has contributed to the development of high performance netball;
- An achiever at the highest levels of office or appointment available in Queensland; and/or
- A contributor to netball at the highest level in Queensland.

Nominees may be involved in other areas, but their achievements must satisfy the criteria detailed above. Mere long-term service or involvement with netball or netball bodies by a Nominee without having satisfied the requirements as outlined above is not sufficient justification for selection.

Only in exceptional circumstances will there be more than two (2) people annually inducted as General Members; exceptional circumstances being more than two nominations of equal claims against the criteria.

Current employees of Netball Queensland are not eligible.
