eporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager - Community Sport will drive the growth and build the capability of the netball system through inspired and courageous leadership of the following key responsibility areas:

1. Participation - Ideation, design and implementation of programs and pathways to grow participation in netball.
2. Diversity and Inclusion - Develop and implement programs, initiatives, and advisory support to ensure netball embraces diversity and is an inclusive sport for all.
3. Workforce - Strengthen the recruitment, development and accreditation of coaches and officials.
4. Delivery Capability - Deliver initiatives, tools and technology which builds the capacity, capability and sustainability of NQ and the delivery network.
5. Access - Improve access by growing the number of places, spaces and infrastructure where netball can be delivered.

Overseeing a team of 14 FTE, plus the community workforce, this is a genuine leadership role for someone with a passion for the role sport plays in communities in addition to a vision for how sport will need to evolve to stay relevant and be sustainable in the future.

An opportunity exits within our Community Sport team to directly impact our great game of netball and contribute to growing participation by ensuring all netballers have access to a great coach! In this important role, you will be responsible for building and implementing the pathways, content and communication strategies to develop the capability of coaches, from grassroots to pre-elite, within netball across Queensland.

The campaign centred positions extend for one tournament cycle, commencing November 2021 through to April 2022 tournament delivery.

Casual Community Development Officers

The Role
Our Community Development Officers are often the first Netball Queensland touch point for many in our netball community and deliver programs that enable participants to strengthen their connection with netball and develop a love of the game. This includes:

• Developing strong relationships within Netball Associations, clubs and schools to support growth in participation and enjoyment of netball.
• Delivering coach, umpire and official development workshops for our club and association volunteers.
• Leading Netball Queensland participation programs including clinics, Sporting Schools programs and NetSetGo.
• Promoting diversity and inclusion in the netball community by supporting and delivering on Netball Queensland’s vision that anyone can play.

Netball Queensland Officials & Coaches

What’s involved?
Facilitating coaching accreditation courses and coaching workshops
Provide a positive, interactive and encouraging environment during courses and workshops to promote learning and development for coaches
Develop coach understanding of a player-centred approach and facilitate in a manner which supports this
Attend training workshops and be involved in ongoing support and development

What courses and workshops will you facilitate?  
Accreditation:  Development Face to Face coaching workshop, Intermediate, Advanced, Elite
Accreditation Assessments:  Intermediate, Advanced
Coaching Workshops:  NetSetGO, Sporting Schools, Next Step, Emerging Talent Program

We’re looking for coaches who:

are upbeat, enthusiastic  and experts at putting smiles on faces
want coaches to gain knowledge, skills, confidence and an ongoing desire to continue growing
have the relevant skills and experience to facilitate.
What you need to be a Netball Queensland Facilitator:

Relevant level of qualifications and experience

Club & Association Coaching Positions

Somerville House is currently seeking applications to recruit enthusiastic and experienced coaches for the 2021 season.

As these are casual positions, you will be advised by the Director of Sport and the Sport Co-ordinator of your working arrangements.

For the 2021 netball season, Years 7 – 12 students train on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:30pm – 5:30pm. Games are played on Saturday mornings on a Home and Away basis.

Junior Netball, Year 4-6 train on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30pm – 5:00pm. Juniors will play in one “Gala” Competition Day opposed to having fixtures on a weekly basis.

Application Process
Short-listed applicants will be invited to attend a short interview with the Director of Sport and individual Sport Co-ordinator. Terms and conditions of employment will be discussed during the interview.

School Coaching Positions

The Head of Netball must be passionate about Netball and the development of netball within The Rockhampton Grammar School. The main functions of the role are to support and encourage the participation of netball at RGS through leading staff and students in representing the School positively, to develop the skills of every member in an effort to reach excellence and provide members with opportunities to progress in the sport during and beyond RGS.
The Head of Netball is expected to oversee all aspects of the club including auxiliary staff such as coaches, maintenance, catering and fitness instructors. The Head of Netball is responsible and accountable for the performance of the club and its members.
