Netball Queensland celebrates diversity and commits to building safe, supportive, inclusive and fun environments for people of all genders, sexualities, ability levels, race, cultures, ethnicities, religions, ages and life stages. There are a several of days of significance within the diversity and inclusion calendar each year. These dates present an opportunity for celebration, education and awareness and are a great way to show your support. A full list of dates can also be found below. This day raises awareness about transgender people and their experiences. It is a day to celebrate the lives and contributions of trans people, while also drawing attention to the poverty, discrimination, and violence the community faces.
IDAHOBIT stands for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. Held on 17 May, it marks the day in 1990 when homosexuality was removed from the World Health Organization’s Classification of Diseases.
These dates mark two pivotal moments in Australia’s reconciliation journey: the 1967 Referendum and the High Court’s Mabo decision. Reconciliation lives in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we work together to build respectful relationships and a stronger nation.

Disability Pride Month, held every July, celebrates people with disabilities and raises awareness. Originating from the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act, it encourages listening, standing up against discrimination, challenging assumptions, and asking respectful questions.
National NAIDOC Week, held each July, celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It’s a chance for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures, join local events, and connect with communities.
Wear it Purple Day is an annual LGBTQ awareness day highlighting bullying of rainbow youth. Schools, workplaces and communities show support, celebrate diversity, and reinforce that young people have the right to be proud of who they are. Get involved!
International Pronouns Day is a grassroots movement promoting the sharing and respect of personal pronouns. Using the correct pronouns shows respect, affirms gender identity, and helps create a welcoming, inclusive environment in your club or association
