Netball Queensland is proud to announce a new partnership with the Brisbane City Council, which will see the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final staged in Brisbane.
The partnership has helped transform Brisbane’s Nissan Arena into the new home of the world’s premier netball competition, Suncorp Super Netball, assisting in the delivery of more than 30 games this season.
The support of Brisbane City Council has also helped secure hosting rights for the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final at Nissan Arena, with details to be announced by the League later today.
Netball Queensland CEO, Catherine Clark, said the partnership was a shining example of the collaborative thinking necessary in the current environment.
“This season has been unlike any we’ve experienced and Brisbane’s ability to adapt and establish itself as a safe and engaging epicentre for netball is testament to innovative partnerships like this,” Clark said.
“To bring all six interstate clubs into the hub and maintain their wellbeing, while also showcasing our beautiful city, would not have been possible without the support of Brisbane City Council.”
“We look forward to continuing our work with Council in order to ensure the legacy of this season continues to inspire generations of netballers to come.”
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said hosting the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball season and Grand Final cemented Brisbane as the nation’s sporting capital.
“In what has been a historic year, our city has secured the AFL Grand Final and now we’ve been treated to more than 30 Super Netball games, which is great for the local economy and for fans who have missed watching live sport during the coronavirus lockdown,” Cr Schrinner said.
“These events are an opportunity to support our economic recovery but also boost community spirits and promotes women’s sport.”
The Suncorp Super Netball League will reveal details of its finals series in the coming hours.
