The partnership will have a strong community focus and celebrates the shared commitment of both organisations to supporting and delivering great experiences for netball participants throughout Queensland – from the grassroots courts in regional communities through to the elite stage of Suncorp Super Netball at Nissan Arena.
The announcement of the partnership comes as clubs and associations across the state prepare for commencement of registrations for the 2026 season and as McDonald’s celebrates McHappy Day across the country raising money for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
To launch the partnership, Firebirds stars Macy Gardner and Lara Dunkley will be attending McHappy Day at Coorparoo McDonalds from 12pm to 1pm on Saturday, November 15.
Netball Queensland and Firebirds CEO Kate Davies said the partnership arrives at an important time for the sport.
“This partnership is an exciting alignment of two iconic brands in Queensland,” Davies said.
“Our new ‘Go For Growth’ strategic plan is powered by a bold agenda to grow participation, grow pathways and grow the sport’s presence on the national stage. Partnering with McDonald’s is another powerful step in that journey, and a sign of the confidence major brands have in netball’s future in this state.
“Most importantly, this partnership will help us continue to create real opportunities for women in sport – whether they’re starting their netball journey in primary school or pulling on the Firebirds dress in front of a packed crowd at Nissan Arena.”
Netball Queensland and the Firebirds will work with McDonald’s across a range of initiatives that will be rolled out throughout 2026, showcasing the power of elite netball to inspire, connect and uplift communities.
"At Macca’s, supporting women and girls in sport is something we’re truly passionate about, so we are thrilled to be partnering with the Queensland Firebirds and Netball Queensland, to support netballers from the grassroots courts to the elite stage," McDonald's Queensland State Marketing Manager Zoe Rowley said.
"This partnership is about more than game day; it’s about celebrating community, creating opportunities, and inspiring the next generation to chase their dreams.
"We also can’t wait to bring our exciting Macca’s game day offers and activations to Firebirds fans and share in the energy that makes netball great. Together, we’re excited to be helping local communities thrive and empowering future stars to shine."
This partnership reinforces the continued growth of netball in Queensland – and the strength of the Firebirds brand – as the sport builds toward a landmark era in the run-up to Brisbane 2032.
