The 2024 Hospital Research Foundation Premier League Grand Finalists are confirmed starters in the Premier Women’s division for the event, being held from February 28 to March 2.
The duo’s involvement adds the prospect of a mouthwatering rematch after both teams played a thrilling Grand Final encounter in Adelaide in August with Contax securing a 64-63 victory following extra-time.
Joining the duo for the event will be HART Premier League heavyweights Gold Coast Titans, ACU Brisbane North Cougars, Carina Leagues Club Tigers and Brisbane South Wildcats.
South Adelaide coach Jackie Blyth said the opportunity to add the SCNI to her team’s pre-season preparations was too good to overlook.
“We’re delighted to be heading to Brisbane to be part of this exciting new competition,” Blyth said.
“The Sunshine Challenge Netball Invitational provides a unique chance for us to firm up and trial new combinations ahead of our 2025 season.
“As a coach, I love to offer the teams I coach something different that offers multiple benefits, and I believe this event will give us an opportunity to cement our team selections as well as giving our club and athletes a new level of exposure.”
Netball Queensland is also delighted to announce several exciting entries for the Open Women’s division, including teams from Caloundra, Pine Rivers, Goodna, UniSC Netball Club, Moreton Bay Pulse and a First Nations Academy of Excellence U23s team, joining the already announced Firebirds Masters team.
There’s still time to join the action and get your team signed up for the Open Women’s, Men’s, and Under-18 Women’s (ages 15-18) community divisions.
Entries must close by Monday, February 10 so be sure not to miss your chance to be part of this historic netball occasion.
Adding to the excitement, all SCNI participants receive exclusive access to a Queensland Firebirds pre-season clash against a Suncorp Super Netball opponent on the Friday night, ensuring an unforgettable weekend of top-tier netball.
