NETBALL Queensland (NQ) selectors have named the 17 and Under and 19 and Under teams for April’s National Netball Championships in Darwin.
Having initially picked a total of 57 athletes across both squads following last year’s Nissan State Titles in Brisbane, both squads have now identified the traveling teams of 12 players each.
Both teams also feature four training partners.
19U coach Simone Nalatu said selecting a final team had been a difficult one for her and the rest of the selectors.
“This was one of the toughest selections I have been part of over the seven years I’ve been involved in this program,” Nalatu said.
“The athletes competed until the last session which made selection of the final 12 really difficult.
“The athletes selected provide us with the ability to run many different combinations, providing us with great variety and flexibility.
“We’re all looking forward at taking our preparation phase to the next level to ensure we’re as best prepared as we can be to be hard to beat in Darwin.”
The 2023 National Netball Championships will be played at CDU Stadium in Marrara, north of Darwin’s city centre.
The 38th edition of the championships will feature two teams from each state and territory competing across six days.
