After securing their first win of the Sapphire Division season last weekend against the Brisbane South Wildcats, the Tigers held off a fast-finishing Pulse to secure a 51-49 win at Nissan Arena on Sunday.
Charlie Preston's 35 points, including two Super Shots, led the way for the Tigers with Amber Yeates providing good support on the scoreboard with three two-pointers in her haul of 14 points.
The two-point defeat leaves the Pulse below the Tigers on the competition ladder with both teams having two wins from seven matches but the Tigers have two extra points courtesy of their draw with the Sunshine Coast Thunder earlier this season.
Elsewhere in Round 7 action, Bond University Bull Sharks emerged victorious in their derby clash with the Gold Coast Titans, the Kedron-Wavell Cougars were too strong for the Thunder and table-topping ICare Group Australia Ipswich Jets maintained their 100 per cent record with a win over the Wildcats.
The Bull Sharks were too strong for their Gold Coast rivals at Carrara, defeating the Titans 69-58, to keep up the pressure on the Jets and Cougars at the top of the standings.
The Cougars' 81-57 win over the Thunder and the Jets' 63-48 defeat of the last-placed Wildcats sets up a blockbuster clash between the top two next Sunday at Nissan Arena with Liz White's team out to gain revenge for their three-goal defeat to Ipswich earlier in the season.
