Down by six goals in Sunday's game at Nissan Arena, the Wildcats rallied to defeat the Tigers 68-62 for their first victory of the campaign at the 11th attempt.
The weekend wasn't a complete loss for the Tigers however who had already claimed a major scalp on Saturday with an upset 58-50 win over defending premiers Bond University Bull Sharks.
Bond, who have added defender Holly Comyns to their roster following her time in the ANZ Premiership in New Zealand, finished the weekend fourth on the competition when they suffered a second defeat of the weekend in Sunday's derby clash with the Gold Coast Titans at Carrara.
The Titans overcame a halftime deficit in the Sunday showdown to win 62-57 and, having defeated the Wildcats 64-56 on Saturday, now sit third on the ladder above the Bull Sharks on percentage.
Competition top two Kedron-Wavell Cougars and ICare Group Australia Ipswich Jets still sit three games clear at the top of the ladder after winning both of their matches across the weekend.
The Cougars, who are above the Jets on percentage, ran out comfortable 63-44 winners over the Sunshine Coast Thunder at Chancellor College on Saturday before thumping Moreton Bay City Pulse 62-39 at Nissan Arena on Sunday.
Ipswich, playing without ex-Queensland Firebird Hulita Veve while the Tonga star is in Glasgow on Commonwealth Games duty, defeated the Pulse 68-56 on Saturday and then ran out 73-55 victors over the Thunder on Sunday.
