The Netball Queensland performance pathway commences with the annual State Titles pathway competition for 16U and 18U athletes from participating teams whereby they have the opportunity to be selected in to Netball Queensland 17U and 19U State Squads. From these squads, final teams are selected to participate in the annual Netball Australia National Netball Championships.
From the National Netball Championship, Netball Australia select Australian Youth Squads (17U and 19U)*.
The Netball Queensland performance pathway continues with the Ruby and Sapphires Series competition where open-age emerging athletes, such as Firebirds training partners, take part in regular competition.
The Sapphire Series is the vehicle for selecting the Firebirds Futures team who compete at the annual Australian Netball Championships (competition).
From the Australian Netball Championships, Netball Australia select an Australian Youth 21U Squad*.
The Super Netball is Netball Australia's Elite competition where the Queensland Firebirds compete.
From Super Netball, Australian athletes are eligible/selected based on performance for the Australian Diamonds who train and compete at World Netball competitions such as the Commonwealth Games, World Cup and other events.
* Queensland athletes selected in Australian Youth Squads (17U, 19U, 21U) may be invited to join a Netball Queensland Firebirds Academy program delivered by High Performance in conjunction with Netball Australia and the QAS.
