Why Update?

The updating program aims to raise the overall quality of coaches within netball by ensuring they are provided with ongoing education and development opportunities covering areas such as:

- Keeping abreast of the latest information on developments within netball
- Having access to the most up-to-date techniques and skills related to coaching
- Rules knowledge and current interpretations

Netball Australia requires a coach to reach the specified number of points of updating activity for each accreditation level.  Accreditation is current for 4 years and coaches need to update at the end of this 4 years to stay current.  

Foundation Accreditation Attain Development OR Complete 20 points in 4 years
Development Accreditation Attain Intermediate OR Complete 40 points in 4 years
Intermediate Accreditation Attain Advanced OR Complete 60 points in 4 years
Advanced Accreditation Attain Elite OR Complete 80 points in 4 years
Elite Accreditation Attain High Performance OR Complete 100 points in 4 years
High Performance Accreditation Complete 120 points in 4 years


PLEASE NOTE:  All learning and accreditation courses are still completed in MyNetball Learning.  You will need to create a MyNetball account (if you don't have one) or log in to your MyNetball account.  Once you have logged in, please click on Learning < Online Learning < Browse Available Courses < and scroll through the list to find the course you are after.  

Coaching accreditation stays current for four years after you complete it.  Every four years you need to update your accreditation.  Coaches, umpires and bench officials can now update their accreditation online through MyNetball.  

it is important you have only one MyNetball account which links to your Learning records which keeps all the information together for the updating process.  There are opportunities for you to do ongoing education and development by completing online courses which are available through your Learning account.    

Updating your accreditation is easy. Just follow these simple steps to get started:

Step One
Log in to MyNetball using your MyNetball ID.

Step Two
Click on the learning tab and select online learning.

Step Three
Click the blue button to browse available courses.

Step Four
Click on My Accreditation Updating table.

Step Five
Select your accreditation from the dropdown list.

Step Six
The bottom half of the screen will show the courses and/or workshops which can be used for updating your level of accreditation.  At the bottom of the screen, it will show the number of points you have already earned, and how many points are required to update.  

Step Seven
Once you have the required number of points and all the mandatory items have been completed, the UPDATE button will be available.  Click on this button to request the update.  

Step Seven
This update will automatically be submitted.  The update will automatically happen on the date of expiry and your accreditation should appear again as current within the next couple of days.  

How does it work?

Accreditation updates work on a points system. So, when you’re updating your accreditation you need to make sure you’ve reached the relevant number of points which includes practical coaching hours and continuing education events within four years of gaining your current accreditation.

When is the best time to apply for an accreditation update?
You can only apply for an update within six months of your current accreditation expiry date. 

Do I need to have anything on hand?
When you’re updating your accreditation, it’s a good idea to have a list of any practical coaching, umpiring or bench officiating activities on hand. You can add this information by completing the relevant fields in step six.
You need to add information for your practical coaching hours for the level of accreditation you have, ie if you have Foundation accreditation, add your information into the Practical Coaching Hours - Foundation - 10 hours item.

What happens if my accreditation has expired?  
There is a 12 month grace period after the expiry date for you to update online in your MyNetball Learning account.  Follow the process to update online during this 12 month grace period.  
If it is past the 12 month expiry date you can send a request to Netball Queensland to consider your coaching logbook and continuing education points for an update.  This needs to be sent in a Word or Excel document and include the Date/Year, the Activity including team and number of training sessions & games, how many hours this adds up to and details of any workshops or online courses you have completed.  This needs to be emailed to Netball Queensland karen.topp@netballq.org.au for consideration
