Saturday's action features a rematch of last year's grand final between the TAE Aerospace Jets and the ACU Brisbane North Cougars.
The reigning premiers are still searching for their first win of the season after back-to-back defeats, including a round one loss to the Jets, who are fresh and rested coming off the bye.
In a notable return, Chloe Litherland is poised to take the court for the Jets this weekend after suffering a serious knee injury in last year's decider. The midcourter won't feature against the Cougars but has been placed on the team list for Sunday's game against the Carina Leagues Club Tigers.
All of Saturday's games take place at Nissan Arena, with the Tigers also chasing revenge for an opening-round defeat against the table-topping Sunshine Coast Thunder.
The Brisbane South Wildcats, meanwhile, are riding high after their round two win over the Tigers and will be eager to push the Gold Coast Titans once more after a narrow loss in the opening round to Temepara Bailey's team.
The Bond University Bull Sharks will have to wait for their chance to climb up the ladder, with a bye in round three.
Sunday's fixtures are highlighted by an enticing clash between the Thunder and the Bull Sharks.
The Bec Stower-coached Bull Sharks have quickly found their feet with a derby win over the Titans in round two, with new recruits such as Jayden Molo, Mia Stower and Sasha Flegler already making an impact.
The Thunder, boosted by the return of shooter Charlie Bell, will be eager to impress their home crowd at UniSC Stadium, with the support of fellow Sunshine Coast Lightning training partners Jada Delaney, Maddie Hinchliffe and Annie Miller.
The remaining Sunday games will be held at Nissan Arena, with the Tigers taking on the Jets and the Cougars facing off against the Wildcats in what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the first double-header weekend.
