Netball Queensland’s General Manager – Delivery Network, Matthew Battams, will farewell the State governing body at the end of the month as he prepares to transition to an exciting new role in the sport.
Battams has accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer of Netball ACT.
Having been involved in the game at a grassroots level for almost two decades, Battams joined Netball Queensland in 2015 as a member of the Horizon Three Project Steering Group, before formally taking a position on the Executive team in 2018 as the General Manager of Business Services and Transformation.
Battams has been instrumental in the delivery of key projects across his six years of service to the governing body, including the establishment of Netball Queensland’s first Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, the transition to the new home of netball in Queensland, Nissan Arena, and the implementation of the BIOME operating model for Associations, building capability and increasing efficiency to ease the burden on volunteers.
Battams shared his enthusiasm for the next phase of his netball journey.
“I am so thankful for the opportunities I’ve had at Netball Queensland and have no doubt the strength of the brand, and the drive to continue innovating for our sport assisted in my appointment to this new role,” Battams said.
“I will certainly miss the Queensland netball community and take great confidence that this experience has provided a wonderful foundation for my role in ACT.”
Netball Queensland CEO Catherine Clark said Battams’ appointment was just reward for outstanding service, both to Netball Queensland and the game more broadly.
“Matt has played such an important role in our business since he joined us and has championed our transformation agenda with real vision,” Clark said.
“I’m delighted to see him rewarded with an opportunity like this as, not only is it testament to his drive and passion for netball, but also an acknowledgement of the environment of development we foster here at Netball Queensland, both professionally and personally.”
“The Netball Queensland community is indebted to Matt for his selfless commitment to the sport in our State and we look forward to continuing to work closely with him in his new role with Netball ACT.”
Netball Queensland is pleased to announce that current Chair of the Horizon Three Project Steering Group, Melissa Bennett, will commence as Acting General Manager – Delivery Network, from the start of 2021.
