Brisbane South Wildcats vs Carina Leagues Club Tigers
The Tigers' long wait for a second win of the season finally ended with a 72-56 victory over the Brisbane South Wildcats at Nissan Arena on Sunday.
Both teams had their depth tested due to players being called up for Firebirds Futures and Lightning Bolts duties in Super Netball Reserves but it was the Tigers who stood tallest to end a four-game losing run.
Defeat for the Wildcats leaves them only above the bottom-placed Tigers on percentage, with both teams having won twice in eight games.
Bond University Bull Sharks vs Gold Coast Titans
A nailbiter at Carrara where the Titans nearly overcame a 13-goal deficit in the third-quarter but it was their Gold Coast rivals Bond who held on to claim a crucial 53-52 victory.
The win keeps the Bull Sharks six points clear in fourth spot on the ladder with a game in hand over the second-placed Titans and third-placed Sunshine Coast Thunder with Queensland Firebirds training partner Sasha Flegler and Lauren Aubrey impressing.
The Titans stay second on the ladder but missed a chance to close the gap to the table-topping TAE Aerospace Ipswich Jets who had the bye.
ACU Brisbane North Cougars vs Sunshine Coast Thunder
The Cougars may have been missing players due to Super Netball Reserves call-ups but weren't as decimated as the Thunder who had Jada Delaney, Charlie Bell, Annie Miller and Maddie Hinchliffe all unavailable among others as well as head coach Simone Nalatu.
Those absences told as the Cougars soared to a dominant 70-33 win which kept their finals hopes alive with their third win of the season leaving them six points behind fourth-placed Bond on the ladder.
Thunder remain third despite their loss ahead of a tantalising match against Bond up next.
