Nothing could separate both clubs on the ladder and on the court, with both teams claiming two wins and drawing their encounter with each other as season two of Ruby North got underway at Mackay Multi-Sports Stadium.
The Claws sit top of the ladder, narrowly, on percentage with United second after both clubs defeated the Mackay Monarchs and Far North Flames either side of a pulsating 59-all draw on Saturday.
Defending champions Mackay went down to the Claws in their opening fixture of their title defence before a commanding 46-27 win over the Flames in game two.
It was a tough start to the campaign for the Flames, with the Cairns-based team falling in all three of their fixtures to sit bottom of the ladder heading into the second weekend in June.
The Claws will aim to build on their encouraging start when they host the next stop in the season, with fixtures to be played at CQ University in Rockhampton on June 13 and 14.
