Coming into the weekend with a share of the lead alongside North Queensland United, the Claws took sole possession of top spot on the ladder with a 48-41 win over United on Saturday.
A 50-31 win over Mackay Monarchs followed in Saturday's second match, ensuring the Claws would hold the lead midway through the season despite a 58-48 loss - their first of the season - against the Far North Flames on Sunday.
United remain second despite a loss to the Flames on Saturday, picking up a win over Mackay on Sunday to sit two points clear of the Flames who won all three of their matches to bounce back dramatically from their winless opening round in Mackay last month.
The Monarchs failed to win across the weekend and sit bottom of the ladder with one win from six matches so far in their title defence.
United will host the next round of the competition in Townsville on July 18 and 19.
