Burleigh Waters-based Marymount Catholic Primary School were the overall winners of the division ahead of King’s Christian College after an action-packed two days of netball at the Hinterland District Netball Association courts in Mudgeeraba.
Marymount’s Alysha Hayer won the Olivia Douglas memorial award as grand final MVP while last year’s Championship Division winners Somerset College finished third to make it a clean sweep of the podium for Gold Coast schools.
In the development division, Sunshine Coast-based Buddina State School took out first place ahead of Sheldon College with another Gold Coast school – Hillcrest Christian College – finishing third.
The 2023 Primary Schools Cup, proudly supported by Major Events Gold Coast, featured 1100 boys and girls from Years 4 to 6 competing in 100 teams from 70 schools – 21 of which were taking part for the first time.
Netball Queensland thanks all the coaches, parents, teachers, spectators, volunteers and staff who helped make this year’s Primary Schools Cup a success.
Netball Queensland also acknowledges the support of partners Valour, Hart Sport, Containers for Change and Mizuno at the event while Woolworths ran NetSetGO clinics and the popular AVJennings’ Birdie Mail was available throughout.
