Moore's remarkable netball journey spans more than four decades, beginning in 1981 when her daughter was asked to fill in for a team.
This simple moment sparked a lifelong commitment.
Over her extraordinary career, Diana served 31 years on the Downey Park Netball Association (DPNA) Committee and 33 years on the committee of Rebels (now Canons Rebels), including 31 years as Club President. She held the role of DPNA Senior Vice President for 17 years, supporting five Presidents, before serving as DPNA President from 2009 to 2017.
During her presidency, Diana navigated the association through significant growth and challenges, securing major facility upgrades including nine new hardcourts in 2013, lighting improvements and a brand-new clubhouse in 2016 that was named in her honour. Her determination and negotiation skills with government bodies were instrumental in these achievements, particularly given the flood-prone nature of the Downey Park site.
Beyond her administrative roles, Diana was also an accomplished umpire who achieved her "A" badge and served as President of the Queensland Women's Amateur Sports Council from 2007-2008.
Her service has been recognised through numerous awards, including being named runner-up for Netball Queensland Volunteer of the Year in 2014 and receiving Senior Citizen of the Year at the 2017 Lord Mayor's Australia Day Awards. Even after stepping down from formal committee roles, Diana continues to give back, providing annual scholarships since 2019 to DPNA representative players in financial need.
Sale was equally honoured for her outstanding dedication to Western Districts Netball Association (WDNA) and the broader Queensland netball community.
Her journey began when her daughters joined WDNA in 2002, prompting her to step forward onto the Kenmore Baptist Netball Club committee. She served for many years as Coaching Coordinator, coached from 2002 to 2013 and has continued umpiring since 2005. Along the way, she achieved National B Umpiring and Intermediate Coaching accreditations and was recognised with the Carol Mills Trophy for club spirit.
At the association level, Paula's governance contribution has been transformative.
She was elected Assistant Treasurer in 2011, Treasurer in 2012 and President in 2015, continuing in senior leadership roles through to today as Grants Coordinator.
Under her leadership, WDNA strengthened governance, expanded development pathways and placed inclusion at the centre of community netball - efforts reflected in WDNA receiving the Netball Queensland Inclusion in Netball Award in 2021 and 2024 and the Community Organisation of the Year Award in 2022.
Paula also expertly guided WDNA through its most challenging periods, serving as COVID Officer to develop safe return-to-play plans and managing the resilient recovery and rebuild following the devastating 2022 floods.
Over the last decade, Paula's proactive grant work has helped secure more than $3.3 million to transform facilities and services, supporting critical infrastructure like LED lighting and court upgrades alongside inclusive development programs.
Her impact extends well beyond her home association, having volunteered on the steering committee that established the Greater Brisbane Netball League, served as volunteer treasurer for Netball Scoop for eight years and contributed to Netball Queensland working groups. Known for her quiet, practical, can-do approach and clear vision for continuous improvement, Paula has earned deep loyalty and trust across the entire netball community.
Wednesday’s AGM also marked significant changes to the Netball Queensland Board of Directors, with the election of new Elected Director Dan Fischer, who brings extensive senior executive experience in digital strategy, customer experience and large-scale organisational transformation.
A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and current Chair of the NQ Digital and Technology Sub-Committee, Fischer combines professional expertise in technology, governance and stakeholder engagement with deep personal connection to the sport as a former state representative player in Mixed Open, Men’s Open A and Under 20s divisions.
He replaces outgoing Elected Director Simone Waugh, who has completed her maximum three consecutive terms on the Board. Netball Queensland acknowledge Waugh's significant contributions, drawing on her extensive background in consumer behaviour, marketing and brand strategy to help guide the organisation through a period of substantial change and growth.
Members were presented with the 2025 Annual Report, which is now available online here.
Financially, Netball Queensland returned a strong annual result. A net profit of $125,185 was achieved through stable revenue growth of two per cent and a reduction in operating costs, a two per cent saving on the previous year.
The key revenue avenues which supported the year-on-year increase were Firebirds Membership & Ticketing (+14 per cent growth on 2024) and NQ Membership Fees (+11 per cent). Membership fees remain the primary income source at $6.3 million (representing 37 per cent of total revenues).
The positive operating result informed an improved balance sheet position for the company, with total assets of $6.3M, a healthy working capital of $2.35M and a net asset (equity) position of $3.4M.
Following the meeting, the NQ Board voted to elect Leanne Coddington for her fourth term as Chair while Director Cara Wennerbom was elected as Deputy Chair.
