ACU Brisbane North Cougars vs Bond University Bull Sharks
After a slow start to their premiership defence, the Cougars appear to be finding their feet at just the right time, leapfrogging the Bull Sharks into the competition top four with a 79-58 win at Nissan Arena on Sunday.
Having been outside the playoff positions for most of the season, Liz White's team have now won three matches on the trot to surge into finals contention and it will certainly have their rivals nervous to see the four-time premiers building momentum at the pointy end of the season.
The Bull Sharks meanwhile drop down to fifth with this defeat but have a game in hand over the Cougars and can regain the advantage if they win that match.
Brisbane South Wildcats vs TAE Aerospace Ipswich Jets
The Jets' stranglehold on top spot was maintained with a comfortable 69-44 win over the struggling Wildcats, who are anchored to the bottom of the ladder after their fourth straight loss.
Ipswich's two-point scoring in the third quarter proved the difference in this match as they opened up a comfortable lead, winning their seventh match of the season to remain six points clear at the league summit with three rounds remaining.
The Wildcats, who have the bye this weekend, have only got two more opportunities to avoid the wooden spoon.
Carina Leagues Club Tigers vs Gold Coast Titans
Fresh off a Pride Round bye, the Titans were simply too good for the lowly Tigers as they moved above Sunshine Coast Thunder into second on the ladder with a 70-52 win.
With former Tiger Tia Crombie leading the line, the Titans jumped out to a big lead early in the final match of the round at Nissan Arena before going on to complete an 18-point win which lifts them above the Thunder on percentage in the race to catch the table-topping Jets.
With Maddi Ridley on Firebirds duties, the Tigers were undermanned but fought back well to match the Titans in a tight second-half, though they remain in a battle with Wildcats to avoid this year's wooden spoon.
