The two-day event brought together 26 teams and 312 players, alongside coaches, umpires and officials from across the state, showcasing the strength of Queensland’s pathway and the next generation of emerging talent.
In the 18U competition, Kedron Wavell Cougars capped an undefeated campaign by defeating Bond University Bull Sharks 46-30 in the Grand Final. Grand Final MVP Simoné Botha played the full 40 minutes and proved a reliable shooting presence throughout the match, delivering a standout performance on the biggest stage.
The Cougars booked their place in the decider with a commanding 39-24 semi-final victory over Brisbane South Wildcats, while Bond University Bull Sharks earned their berth after edging Carina Leagues Club Tigers by a single goal in a thrilling contest.
In the 16U division, Gold Coast Titans emerged as champions after defeating Brisbane South Wildcats 36-25 in the Grand Final. Having lost to the Wildcats during the pool rounds, the Titans reversed the result when it mattered most to claim the title. Sixteen-year-old Titans athlete Zoe Galo was named Grand Final MVP following a dominant performance that helped steer her side to victory in her first State Titles appearance.
The Titans’ road to the championship included one of the matches of the tournament, overcoming Carina Leagues Club Tigers 27-26 in a nail-biting semi-final. Brisbane South Wildcats advanced to the Grand Final after defeating Sunshine Coast Thunder 38-34 in the other semi-final.
Beyond the athletes, the success of the tournament was supported by dedicated umpires, and bench officials from across Queensland. Jodie McGill, Jane Turner-Young and Shelley Bissett served as bench officials for both Grand Finals. Tanya Kirk, Risha Dewan and Tara Thurban umpired the 16U Grand Final, while Ashley Killer, Emily-Ann Topper and Ella Lawrence umpired the 18U decider.
State Titles remains a key step in the Netball Queensland pathway, with performances across the event helping inform future representative opportunities and state selections. The competition once again highlighted the depth of talent emerging from clubs and regions across Queensland and the health of the talent pathway.
Netball Queensland’s state squads were selected during the tournament and will be announced publicly later this week.
