A valued contribution to the collective 23,000-plus health check shirt incentives delivered in South-east Queensland alone, have Firebirds-inspired shirt designs featuring aspects of artwork from renowned artist and Goreng Goreng woman Rachael Sarra, which is extremely satisfying.
It’s just as heart-warming for Super Netball’s foundation Deadly Choices partner, knowing their designs are also being delivered into places like Tasmania – for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have made the decision to undertake an annual 715 health check at their local community-controlled health service.
The 715 health check emphasises the importance of preventative health, encouraging mob to visit their health services regularly, not just when they are sick.
By doing so, they can access support to prevent or better manage chronic diseases and maintain overall health.
Deadly Choices motivates people towards making healthy lifestyle choices within a culturally appropriate and safe environment. This empowers our people to make healthy lifestyle choices and become community role models, equipped with the knowledge and understanding expected of current and future Indigenous leaders.
NQ is thrilled to have contributed meaningfully to Deadly Choices and its health objectives. Our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) outlines our commitment to promoting reconciliation through our sphere of influence.
“We couldn't be happier to see how much our beautiful Queensland Firebirds Deadly Choices shirts are helping to get better health outcomes for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders,” said NQ Chief Executive Kate Davies.
“Our Innovate RAP holds us accountable to our commitment to transition diversity, equity, and inclusion from a function to a practice.
“The proven success of the Deadly Choices shirts in empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to look after their own health is something the Queensland Firebirds are proud to be able to contribute to.”
