As the current 2025/26 YAG members prepare to conclude their tenure, many are already applying the professional skills gained through the program to university studies, workplace environments and community leadership roles – demonstrating the lasting impact this experience provides young people aged 12-24.
Real skills for real-world success
For parents seeking meaningful development opportunities beyond traditional netball participation, YAG delivers tangible benefits that extend far into their child's academic and professional future. Current member Adelaide Hall credits the program with building her confidence for life beyond high school.
"YAG has helped me immensely with my transition from graduating high school to preparing to start uni this year," Adelaide explains.
"My involvement has given me the confidence to put myself out there and search for different opportunities without fear of failure. The skills and experiences I have gained have had a positive impact on my broader professional skills."
The program provides genuine behind-the-scenes access to Queensland's netball operations while developing transferable skills.
"Being able to hear from many people in Netball Queensland and the associations across the state has been a learning opportunity that I have thoroughly enjoyed," Adelaide adds. "I have gained valuable insight into the very large behind the scenes of what it takes for netball to run in all its different forms and levels."
Benefits beyond the court
Members consistently report how YAG skills enhance their performance across multiple life areas. Oliver Gallagher notes, "It has helped me communicate ideas differently at school and work, as well as tips for staying organised. It has also helped me at netball as I know more about what goes on behind the scenes."
Sophie Davies emphasizes the educational advantages: "YAG has helped me with netball and schoolwork as it has given me an insight into the ability to use my resources and knowledge to improve my ability as well as it has given me new skills to expand on."
Sophie's recommendation captures the program's comprehensive value: "It has been a great experience and gives amazing insight into the world of netball behind the scenes."
