With the penultimate round of the home and away season being hosted at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, the Jets went into their match against the Bull Sharks knowing nothing less than a win would keep their finals hopes alive.
The Jets started brightly against the league leaders, holding an eight-goal lead at the end of the first quarter but by halftime Bond had whittled that down to just two goals.
From there the Bull Sharks proved too strong for the Jets as they took the lead and then pulled away to secure a 12-point win that keeps them two points clear at the top of the ladder heading into next weekend's final round of the regular season.
The Jets' seventh defeat of the season - and third in a row - means they cannot make the top four with fourth-placed Sunshine Coast Thunder six clear on the ladder despite suffering a 63-62 loss to the in-form Kedron Wavell Cougars.
The victory is the second-placed Cougars' sixth in a row and has Liz White's team well poised to challenge Bond's position at the top of the ladder and heading into finals.
The shock appearance of New Zealand icon Maria Folau for the Gold Coast Titans in their match against the Brisbane South Wildcats drew plenty of attention from the Carrara crowd but the 38-year-old former Silver Fern international couldn't prevent the Wildcats claiming an impressive 74-63 win.
Folau scored 20 goals for the Titans including six Super Shots but the sixth-placed Wildcats were unfazed as they secured an upset victory with Queensland First Nations star Georgia Lindsay continuing her eye-catching season with 34 points including 10 two-pointers.
In the other fixture for Round 13, the Carina Leagues Club Tigers put on a dominant final quarter to secure a 62-51 win over last-placed Moreton Bay City Pulse.
