The upgraded facility will provide a significant boost for the association's growing membership base of 456 players, giving the club the infrastructure it needs to continue supporting local competition, training and development for years to come.
The timing couldn't be better, with Kingaroy Netball Association experiencing strong growth at the grassroots level. Woolworths NetSetGO participation has jumped from 90 children in 2025 to 117 this year, a clear sign that interest in netball across the South Burnett region continues to build.
South Burnett Regional Council Mayor Kathy Duff welcomed the completion of the project.
"I would like to congratulate the club on this outstanding new facility. We look forward to seeing even more players and families enjoying netball for many years to come. Council is proud to support a club that is at the heart of our community," Cr Duff said.
The new courts will allow Kingaroy Netball Association to expand its local competition and hosting capabilities, offering players, coaches and volunteers a modern, high-quality venue to enjoy the game for seasons to come.
Kingaroy Netball Association President Hayley McAnally said the opening of the new courts was a significant milestone for the club and its members.
“Before our upgrade we had four hard courts that were starting to crack badly and most likely only had one or two years of play left in them,” McAnally said.
“We had outdated lighting that was not adequate for game nights.
“With the combination of Federal Funding through the Play Our Way grant and contribution from our association we have been able to provide four brand new hard courts that meet Netball Australia's guidelines, new LED lighting, a rebound wall to practice passing and seating for our spectators.
“This upgrade means that netball can continue to be played in Kingaroy in a safe and modern facility. We can continue to grow netball in our community for a very long time. So very proud of our committee for being able to achieve this.”
