Having lost all three of their fixtures in Rockhampton last month, the Monarchs bounced back with a 100 per cent record in Round 2 defeating the Capricorn Claws, North Queensland United and Far North Flames in an impressive outing.
Opening their weekend with a 64-42 win over the Claws, the Monarchs overcame a sluggish start against host franchise United in Saturday's second game to post a 54-43 victory.
A comprehensive 68-36 win over the Flames on Sunday wrapped up the weekend for the Monarchs, who have moved within game of United and the Claws on the ladder heading into Round 3 in Mackay next month.
United's defeat to the Monarchs was their only setback in their home round, defeating the Flames and Claws to sit atop the ladder after six matches on percentage ahead of the Claws, whose win over the Flames on Saturday was their only victory of the weekend.
The Flames, who lost all three of their fixtures over the weekend, prop up the ladder with just one win from their six game so far.
The next round of Ruby North will be in Mackay on July 12 and 13.
