The Pulse will field a team in both the HART Sapphire and Ruby series, expanding the premier division to eight teams while the Ruby series will grow to nine teams.
The club will also take part in the 2024 State Titles in Brisbane alongside other Sapphire Series franchises and regional teams including the new Ruby North license holders announced last week.
The new franchise will represent the Moreton Bay region north of Brisbane, an area densely populated with emerging netball talent and will don colours of navy, teal, peach and white.
NQ General Manager - Netball Glenn Dennis believes the Pulse will be a welcome addition to the competition.
“It is very exciting to welcome Moreton Bay City Pulse into the 2025 HART Sapphire Series,” Dennis said.
“Many HART Sapphire Series players have come from the Moreton Bay area and the region’s contribution to NQ pathway competitions is significant so to be expanding that presence with an elite club of their own is a thrill.
“This expansion is also a testament to the value of the HART Sapphire Series and the integral role netball plays in the lives of Queenslanders.
“Expanding the competition through the introduction of an eighth club provides further opportunities to raise up local heroes, inspire communities and see Queenslanders realise their potential through netball.”
With their licence secured, the Pulse’s focus now turns their recruitment drive as they look to build two formidable teams ahead of their inaugural season in 2025, following their first state titles campaign later this year.
“As a region we are thrilled to join the Sapphire Series in 2025 and showcase our netball talent,” Pulse Board Director Candice Tahuri said.
“Moreton Bay has long fostered and developed talented netball players only to lose them to other regions.
“The introduction of our own Sapphire team to the area means we can start showcasing our talent and building depth in our region.
“We are excited to bring our unique style and flair to the game.”
