This unique program provides an opportunity for organisations to invest in the largest female participation sport in Australia, a game built on strong community values, inspiring role models, and a tradition of excellence at the elite level.
The Starting Seven is a commitment to making netball more accessible, inclusive, and impactful. Through strategic investment, the initiative will directly support vital programs that strengthen the sport’s footprint in Queensland communities.
These initiatives include bringing netball opportunities to remote Indigenous communities through Netball Queensland’s Diamond Spirit Engage delivery program providing introductory experiences, upskilling local leaders and delivering essential equipment.
Investment will also assist regional talent through a Regional and Remote Coaching and Development Program and open invitation Regional Talent Combines to identify and nurture emerging athletes from regional areas.
Netball Queensland will also use investment to establish a network of Wellbeing Officers across all 83 affiliated associations to promote player welfare and provide education, support, and professional development opportunities.
“Netball, a pioneering sport for females, remains the number one team sport for women and girls across the country,” Netball Queensland Chief Executive Kate Davies said.
“Our sport’s impact on women is unrivalled and we are proud of the position netball has held, and continues to hold, in the lives of millions of women and girls.
“Eight out of 10 Australian families have had some involvement in netball whether as players, volunteers, coaches or in an administration role and The Starting Seven represents a unique opportunity to invest in the social impact of our sport across the entire community.”
Leading ticketing provider Ticketek has proudly signed on as the founding member of The Starting Seven, demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting the sport’s growth and impact across Queensland.
"Ticketek is incredibly proud to be the founding member of The Starting Seven initiative," said Cameron Hoy, Chief Operating Officer & Head of Global Ticketing – TEG.
“As a company that is deeply committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, and community engagement, we believe in the power of sport to bring people together.
