Established in 2024 to enshrine and celebrate the achievements of Queensland’s most influential netball figures, the Hall of Fame inaugural inductees were Elizabeth White OAM, Janelle Derrington, Vicki Wilson OAM and Laura Geitz.
Last year, June Bothwell AM was also posthumously inducted, joining this distinguished group and further honouring the legacy of those who have shaped netball in Queensland.
Now, nominations are open to determine who will be recognised next for their outstanding contribution to the sport.
From world champion athletes and premiership-winning coaches to trailblazing officials and administrators, the Queensland Netball Hall of Fame acknowledges those who have made a lasting impact at the very highest levels of the code.
“The Queensland Netball Hall of Fame exists to ensure the stories and achievements of our sport’s greatest contributors are preserved and celebrated,” Netball Queensland Chief Executive Officer Kate Davies said.
“With such an exceptional group already inducted, I’m excited to see the nominations received for this next intake.”
Nominations are open until Friday 24 April 2026, and anyone can nominate a candidate for consideration.
To be eligible for nomination, athlete members must:
- Have represented Queensland at Open level (i.e. Suncorp Super Netball or equivalent).
- Be well respected by their peers.
- Not be considered until four (4) years have lapsed following retirement from Queensland Open level netball.
- Have the degree of difficulty to attain and maintain Queensland Open selection considered.
- Be assessed not only on achievements, but also integrity, sportsmanship and character.
- To be eligible for nomination, general members must have achieved exceptional outcomes through personal effort or initiative in areas supporting high-performance netball in Queensland, including (but not limited to) coaching, administration, officiating or netball operations. Nominees cannot be an existing employee or board director of Netball Queensland.
NQ’s History and Traditions Advisory Group will evaluate nominations against eligibility criteria, before recommended nominations are put forward to the NQ Board for endorsement. Successful nominees will be notified, with new inductees announced at the Queensland Firebirds Awards Night on Tuesday 7 July 2026.
For more information, visit the Hall of Fame page on the NQ website and submit a nomination by Friday 24 April 2026.
