Netball Queensland (NQ) has selected 30 umpires for the tournament, which will be held at Nissan Arena from Saturday, 14 September to Tuesday, 17 September.
All regions of Queensland are represented including umpires from Rockhampton, Mackay, Cairns, Townsville and Toowoomba as well as south-east Queensland associations.
“These umpires were selected following an extremely competitive selection process that included applications submitted by over 180 umpires,” NQ Workforce Development Manager Claire Kleinschmidt said.
“The final 30 umpires selected have been appointed following consistently high performances across the season, including at the recent Vicki Wilson Championship Finals Series.
Umpires selected will now also be in contention for selection in NQ’s HART Sapphire Series, Ruby Series and development squad programs in 2025.
Queensland umpires are also making waves nationally with Darling Downs umpire Miah Hickman and Townsville’s Tyra McCartney appointed to officiate at the First Nations Championships while Highfields Netball Association’s Elisa Dennis was appointed to the Australian Netball Championships.
This follows the appointments of James Matthews-Maher, Nicola Stevens, Jessica Lakeman, Claire Kleinschmidt and Abbey Bassingthwaite’s appointments to the Super Netball Reserves program.
Stevens was also invited to a National Pathway camp while she and Di Fawcett officiated at the National Netball Championships earlier this season.
“The high number of Queensland umpires selected to Netball Australia programs and competitions demonstrates the increasing depth and talent in our pathway,” Kleinschmidt said.
