A group of athletes and coaches from Fiji, PNG, Samoa and Tonga have arrived in Brisbane for a short-term immersion with Netball Queensland, thanks to the PacificAus Sports program.
The group will take part in a high-performance camp from Monday until Saturday before athletes form a PacificAus Sports team to compete at this year’s Nissan State Titles as an invitational side in the 18U competition.
The titles run from Sunday until Tuesday, September 20.
Thanks to the partnership in place with Netball Australia and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trading, the program provides selected athletes from the Pacific Islands with an opportunity to train, learn and play in a true high-performance environment.
With lead facilitator Jen Brazel at the helm, the Netball Queensland team will deliver a variety of opportunities during the camp including on-court training and off-court education sessions.
The overall aim is to give athletes and coaches a tangible insight into what is involved and required for both athletes and coaches in a high-performance training environment before taking those lessons into their Nissan State Titles appearance.
