This accreditation represents the highest level of achievement for bench officials and opens the door for McGill to realise her ambition of officiating at Test matches and international tournaments, including the highly anticipated 2027 Netball World Cup in Australia.
It’s a long way from the start of McGill’s journey as a bench official that began in 2017 when completion of the online Foundation Bench Official course led to an invitation from Netball Queensland to work on the sideline of state league matches.
Travelling from Kingscliff in northern NSW to Nissan Arena and Logan, McGill’s journey deepened when she gained national recognition in 2019.
Passing her National Accreditation at that year’s National Netball Championships, McGill has since gone on to be courtside for the HART Premier Netball League, State Titles, Vicki Wilson Championships, Australian Netball Championships and even Suncorp Super Netball matches.
Her recent achievement at the PacificAus Sports Netball Series is not just a career milestone, but also a significant step towards fulfilling her dream of reaching the international stage.
“I'm really happy to have attained my High Performance Accreditation and hope that someday in the future I'll be able to bench at a World Cup or Commonwealth Games competition,” McGill said.
“They are my ultimate goals.”
