We know right now that many of our members, associations, clubs, partners, fans, players and staff are currently being impacted by major flooding in South-East Queensland as well as South Burnett, Maryborough and Tweed regions.
The beating purple hearts of the netball community go out to those who are displaced, isolated, assessing damage and/or will be in need of support as the clean-up begins.
Many netball associations and clubs have been severely impacted with a large number of associations built on watercourses. We too are watching and hoping that this important community infrastructure doesn’t continue to be affected by further weather patterns in this system. Sharing information and getting access to support is essential to help with the clean up and get everyone back to netball in our communities as soon as practical.
In regards to state government assistance, you can contact the Sport & Recreation team directly at sr.disaster@dtis.qld.gov.au. And, please direct any Netball Queensland enquiries regarding community netball to: community@netballq.org.au.
For our members and associations (and their clubs) who have suffered property damage and who would like to discuss a possible insurance claim under the Netball Australia policy, please contact the V insurance team at https://vinsurancegroup.com/netball/ or Ian Brown at Netball Queensland ian.brown@netball.org.au.
Given we will be in recovery mode for some time, we’re also working on alternative arrangements for upcoming Netball Queensland events. Members and fans will be contacted directly regarding any event changes.
At present, Nissan Arena has fared quite well and will reopen today, Tuesday, 1 March 2022 – any booking enquiries can be directed to: enquiries@nissanarena.com.au
Thank you to our members, partners, fans, players and staff for their understanding, agility and camaraderie.
Please stay safe and dry – we recognise it’s a challenging time especially on the cusp of the season but together, we can return to the courts as safely and as soon as possible.
