Now in its eighth year, the Netball Queensland initiative brought together the largest field in the event's history, with 110 teams representing 64 schools from across Queensland and Northern New South Wales contesting 623 matches across Championship, Challenge and Development divisions. Approximately 1,210 students took to the court throughout the weekend, highlighting the continued growth and success of the competition.
The Primary Schools Cup provides students in Years 4 to 6 with the opportunity to experience competitive netball in a fun, safe and inclusive environment, while also encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship and a lifelong connection to the sport.
St Francis Xavier Catholic School, Runaway Bay claimed the Championship title after an impressive tournament campaign, finishing ahead of runners-up Marymount Primary School in the competition's premier division.
The Championship Grand Final also saw Harper McLennan from St Francis Xavier Catholic School, Runaway Bay recognised with the prestigious Olivia Douglas Memorial Award as the Most Valuable Player. Introduced in 2019, the award honours the memory of Olivia Douglas, a young Gold Coast netballer whose passion for the game continues to inspire future generations of players.
In the Challenge division, Clover Hill State School emerged victorious to secure the title, with Corymbia State School finishing as runners-up.
Broadbeach State School claimed Development division honours following a strong weekend of competition, while Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School, Torquay finished runners-up.
The tournament showcased the depth of emerging netball talent across Queensland, with schools travelling from Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay-Fraser Coast, Darling Downs, North Queensland and Northern New South Wales to be part of the event.
The 2026 Primary Schools Cup also continued Netball Queensland's Green Armband Initiative, helping support the development of young umpires by ensuring under-18 officials were clearly identifiable throughout the event and reinforcing a culture of respect for officials across the game.
