Restrictions are lifting in Brisbane and Moreton Bay local government areas from 6pm Saturday, 3 July but additional measures remain in place until 6.00pm, Fri 16 July.
The Queensland Government has announced today (Saturday, 3 July 2021) that restrictions have eased in all local government areas across Queensland.
- This means all Queensland local government areas (LGA’s) that were previously in lockdown are now able to resume events from 6pm this evening (Saturday, 4 July) following the Queensland Government guidelines www.covid19.qld.gov.au. However, additional measures remain in place for these impacted LGA’s for 14 days until 6.00pm on Friday 16 July 2021.
- Residents of impacted LGA’s must wear a mask at all times outside the home and wear them indoors if social distancing isn’t possible. Restrictions also apply to businesses and events (residents of non-impacted LGA’s are encouraged to carry a mask at all times).
- All businesses must maintain the responsibility of using a check-in app for all guests.
Indoor sport and recreation activities are permitted to recommence from the end of the lockdown period for those LGA's that were impacted
- Physical contact is permitted on the field of play only.
- Physical distancing is required off the field off play.
- The total number of people permitted to attend is based on occupant density of one person per four square metres (for impacted LGA’s / non-impacted LGA’s is one person per two square metres).
- Mandatory record keeping is required for tracking and tracing purposes for all in attendance, including spectators.
- Prior to conducting informal activities, please review the current Movement and Gatherings Health Direction.
Outdoor sport and recreation activities are permitted to recommence from the end of the lockdown for those LGA’s that were impacted:

- Physical distancing should be observed outside of the field of play.
- Whilst not mandatory, best practice is to continue to clean frequently touched surfaces and shared equipment.
- Clubhouses, licenced hospitality activities or canteens with indoor dining, are required to follow occupant density requirements of one person per two square metres and are mandated to use a Check In App to collect contact information for the purposes of contact tracing.
- Outdoor events and Netball activity 1 person per two square metres (for impacted LGA’s only)
Impacts across Netball Queensland activities are noted below:
Queensland Firebirds - The Queensland Firebirds v GIANTS game originally scheduled to be held at Nissan arena has been moved to Melbourne. The game will now be played: at 5pm Sunday 4 July at John Cain Arena. The game can be watched on the Telstra Netball LIVE App.
HART Sapphire Series - due to Friday’s extension of the Brisbane and Moreton Bay local government area lockdown, games scheduled at Nissan Arena and Townsville Stadium this weekend Sat 3rd and Sun 4th July have been postponed until Sat 10th and Sun 11th July. Direct contact has been made with operation managers for each team to finalise details.
Nissan Arena - events scheduled at Nissan Arena on Sunday 4 July will proceed as scheduled. All attendees are required to check-in to the venue and masks are mandatory. Social distancing is required at the density of one person per four square metres unless on the field of play. Seated events are permitted at 100% capacity provided masks are worn.
School Holiday Clinics scheduled for next week (5th July onwards) - Netball Queensland Community Clinics scheduled next week at Wakerley, Springfield and Townsville will go ahead as planned. The train like a Firebird Clinic on 5 July has been postponed. Specific information will be sent to registered participants prior to each clinic.
Community netball - Community netball can resume from 6pm Saturday 3 July, following the Queensland Government guidelines www.covid19.qld.gov.au. However, additional measures remain in place for impacted LGA’s for 14 days until 6.00pm on Friday 16 July 2021.
- Masks are mandatory for spectators and everywhere off the field of play (for South East Queensland, Townsville (including Magnetic Island) and Palm Island local government areas – mask not mandatory for other parts of QLD.
- Physical contact is permitted on the field of play only.
- Physical distancing should be observed outside of the field of play.
- Best practice is to continue to clean frequently touched surfaces and shared equipment.

Nissan State Age - Postponed – new dates to be provided early next week.
We are continuing to liaise with the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and other key stakeholders regarding the rescheduling of Nissan State Age until later in the year. We are hopeful that we can announce new dates early next week. These will be announced directly to associations via email as well as via Netball Queensland social media as soon as possible.
